VALENTINO FALL/WINTER 2016

VALENTINO FALL/WINTER 2016:

“The overall look at Valentino this season is a messy ballerina chignon. It’s a great look for day-old or just-left-the-gym hair. There’s no need to shampoo before styling; in fact, it holds better if the hair is left unwashed or slightly dirty. I took out a few pieces at the front, dampened them with water and then let them air dry to create a soft frame to the face. I used my fingers to rake through the hair to form the ponytail, spraying triple take 32 hairspray along the way for grip and texture. The cubelike chignon, covered by the hair net, creates a finished, antique feeling. The cleanliness of the chignon accentuates an elongated neck for an elegant and romantic Valentino look.” – Guido

GET THE LOOK:

 1. Take two small sections of hair from the top left and right corners of the forehead and bring forward, allowing each to hang loose.

2. Lightly mist water to dampen the sections. Let air dry naturally.

3. Apply Redken guts 10 volume spray foam along hairline and to the top section of head.

4. Blow dry hair with brush, pulling hair back as you dry.

5. Once dry, spray Redken triple take 32 high-hold hairspray to the same section as step 3.

6. Using fingers, pull hair back into a ponytail at the crown of the head. Secure with a black elastic.

7. Spray more Redken triple take 32 extreme high-hold hairspray directly to ponytail to create a wet look.

8. Using pins, twist ponytail into a tight square-shaped chignon. Cover with hair net that closely matches haircolor.

9. Once chignon is in place, spray with Redken triple take 32 extreme high-hold hairspray for lasting hold.
